North & Pine

A full winter line, shot in an afternoon.

The challenge

North & Pine ships two outerwear drops a season — parkas, shells and insulated layers, each in four to six colorways. Every launch meant booking a studio, a photographer and fit models six weeks out, then waiting on selects and retouching. Heavy garments photograph slowly, sample sets arrive late, and a single reshoot could push a drop past its window.

The team needed on-model imagery for dozens of colorways, on a range of body types — without the calendar and the invoice a traditional shoot demands.

02

The approach

The team rebuilt the workflow around the flat lay:

  • Upload the packshot or flat lay for each colorway — no samples shipped, no studio booked.
  • Choose the model, pose and light, then generate 11 on-model looks per SKU across different body types and settings.
  • Export 4K images with clean masks, ready to drop straight onto product pages.
  • Keep every image — full commercial rights, no model releases or licensing.

What used to be a six-week production line became an afternoon at a desk.

03

The quantified result

The first drop produced this way went live the same week the flat lays were ready.

  • −92% cost per on-model image versus the previous all-in studio rate.
  • +18% product-page conversion, driven by more model diversity and consistent lighting.
  • 40× faster from sample to published image.
  • 11 looks per SKU, up from three, so shoppers see themselves on the product.
We cancelled the studio booking and never looked back. A full winter line, on real-looking models, ready before lunch — for a fraction of what one shoot used to cost.
